JU protesters call for boycotting VC

A group teachers and students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) yesterday made an announcement that they will ‘boycott’ the university Vice-Chancellor Prof  Farzana Islam for her alleged involvement in corruption in development project of the university.

They said that they will not allow VC to do any administrative work after October 23.

Under the banner of ‘Jahangirnagar against corruption’, they made the announcement at a press conference held at the teachers’ lounge of New Arts building yesterday afternoon.

They also announced their new protest programme for the next two days, including demonstration and light procession.

Convener of the platform, Prof Raihan Rayeen said, “We will not allow VC to participate in administrative work by October 23. Moreover, we will not compel to obey any office order signed by the VC”.

Mohammad Dider, Secretary of Socialist Student Front, read out the written statement at the press conference.

Organiser of the anti-corruption platform Prof Khabir Uddin, Prof Jamal Uddin, Prof Md Nurul Islam, Prof Abu Sayeed Md Mustafizur Rahaman, Prof Tarek Reza, Prof Sayeed Ferdous, Prof Fazlul Karim Patwari, Prof Hasan Mahmud and leaders of different left leaning students’ body were present at the press meet.
