Tree plantation stressed for environmental balance

BSS, Rangpur

Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud yesterday laid emphasis on greening the nature through tree plantation for maintaining ecological balance.  “If the environment is not secured, the issue of living of human-being on this planet will continue to become difficult,” he said. Alim said this while launching the week-long tree plantation campaign through distributing tree saplings among students, teachers and guardians of different educational institutions of the city aiming to build a green city for environmental balance. He distributed hundreds of tree saplings at three separate functions among students, teachers and guardians of Tazhat High School, Azizullah High School and Mahiganj High School in the city yesterday. The RpMP and Rangpur Metropolitan Community Policing Committee are jointly conducting the week-long tree plantation campaign through distributing tree saplings at different educational institutions under jurisdiction of the RpMP. The RpMP Commissioner said the tree plantation campaign has been launched as part of turning Rangpur city into a green city to make it livable for the people.

“The students and teachers are more aware of adverse impacts of climate change and necessity of greening the nature. So that is why, we are conducting the campaign with their active involvement,” he said.

“The school students can set up a dazzling example in turning tree plantation campaign into an effective social movement to save the planet and keep it habitable for future generations despite changing climate,” he said.

The RpMP Commissioner also called upon everyone to create a social resistance against child marriage, drugs, terrorism, militancy and adolescents’ gangs for building a peaceful society.

Deputy Police Commissioner (Crime) of RpMP Mottaki Ibnu Minan, its Assistant Police Commissioner (Kotwali Zone) Jamir Uddin, Assistant Police Commissioner (Porshuram Zone) Abdullah Al Mamun and President of Rangpur

Metropolitan Community Policing Committee Idris Ali were present.
