5th International Medical Mission 2019 held in Dhaka

Week-long 5th International Medical Mission held in Dhaka from 12-17 October 2019 organized by Rotary Club of Dhaka Mavericks with the collaboration of Partners for World Health (PWH), USA.

Given the fact that, Bangladesh is experiencing a rise in cancer prevalence, the Rotary Club of Dhaka Mavericks, are trying to create a pool of Bangladeshi experts trained to provide world-class treatment and post-treatment care to the patients. Since 2017, each year, the club organizes two missions, one focusing on Cancer Care in every October and another focusing on Burn, Maternal, Child and General Health in every March. This is the third year in a row, the club is organizing this mission, and this will be the 5th International Medical Mission and 3rd mission focusing on Cancer Care. Till date, the club has trained more than 500 doctors and more than 2500 nurses on different spectrums of Cancer Care Burn, Maternal, Child and General Health. In addition, 100 nurses have received Certificate Course on US standard Chemotherapy Administration.

This October, through the 5th International Medical Mission, the Rotary Club of Dhaka Mavericks is assisting a team of 09 oncologists and onco-nurses from different parts of USA to come to Dhaka and provide free of charge surgical training services, on the job training for surgeons, certificate course on post-chemotherapy care, certificate course on post-radiotherapy care for onco-special nurses at the National Institute for Cancer Research and Hospital (NICRH) and the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, Dhaka.
