Bharat-Bangladesh Film Award ceremony tomorrow

Veteran Bangladeshi film actress Anwara Begum, who acted in more than 600 films and won the National Film Award for seven times, will be bestowed with the lifetime achievement award at the first edition of Bharat-Bangladesh Film Award (BBFA). The award ceremony will be held tomorrow at International Convention City Bashundhara in the capital.

Film Federation of India (FFI) and Bashundhara Group from Bangladesh have jointly taken the initiative for the development of Bangladesh’s film industry and promoting Indian films in Bangladesh.

Bengali movies released between June 2018 to June 2019 in Bangladesh and India have been nominated for the award. A total of 24 awards under three categories--popular, technical and regional--will be distributed at the award programme.

Noted film actor Ranjit Mallick will be bestowed with the lifetime achievement award in Indian part.

A jury committee comprised of popular actor Alamgir Hossain, Sarah Begum Kabori, Imdadul Haq Milan, Film Producers’ Association president Khorshed Alam Khasru and film producer Hasibur Reza Kallol selected the films nominated for awards in Bangladesh part, while director Goutam Ghosh, actor-director Bratya Basu, actress Tanushree Chakraborty have selected the films nominated for awards in Indian part. l
