Padma Bridge to be completed by June 2021, says Quader

UNB, Munshiganj

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader yesterday said the construction work on the Padma Bridge will be completed by June, 2021. He made the remark while talking to reporters at the Visitors' Centre of Service Area-1 of the Padma Bridge here in the afternoon.

The minister said around 84 percent construction work of the bridge has been completed so far. The overall progress of the bridge work is 74 percent right now while the financial progress is 75.84 percent, he said.

"The Padma River is very unpredictable. Sometimes it becomes difficult to place spans on piers. So, it's not possible to complete the construction work within the scheduled time," he said.

The minister mentioned that the driving work on all the piles of the main bridge has been completed in addition to constructing 32 out of 42 piers and completion of 63 percent river-training work. Construction work on connecting roads has also been completed, he added.
