DU to hold discussion observing National Mourning Day Aug 27

The Dhaka University (DU) authorities will hold a discussion and drawing competition to observe the National Mourning Day and 44th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The discussion meeting on the life and works of the architect of country’s independence Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be held at 11:00 am at Teacher-Student Center (TSC) auditorium on August 27 with DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Md. Akhtaruzzaman in the chair, said a DU press release yesterday.
An art competition organised by the Faculty of Fine Art for school children will be held at TSC cafeteria at 4 pm on August 27.
Experimental Campus Radio broadcast launched at BRUR
BSS, Rangpur

The authorities of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) on Tuesday launched experimental broadcast of Campus Radio.
Vice-chancellor of the university Professor Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah formally inaugurated the campus radio at a function held at the administrative building on the campus.
Experimental transmission of the Campus Radio could be listened through internet by logging-in at www.brucr.net, a BRUR press release said.
The Campus Radio began its experimental broadcast with transmission of the historic March 7 speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
On the occasion, the Vice-chancellor said BRUR became the first among all public universities of the country to begin transmission of Campus Radio aiming at inspiring the young generations in turning the month of national mourning into strength.
The Campus Radio would start regular transmission of various programmes on education, entertainment, culture, campus news broadcast and build social awareness on various issues. Dean of the Faculty of Arts Professor Dr. Parimal Chandra Barman, Head of the Department of Statistics Dr. Md. Rahidul Islam, Assistant Professor of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems Apel Mahmud, teachers and officials of the university were present.
RU classes resume Sunday
BSS, Rajshahi

Classes and other academic activities of Rajshahi University (RU) will resume from Sunday after a 16-day vacation marking the celebration of Eid-Ul-Azha.
Before that, students’ dormitories of the university will reopen from Saturday, said Prof Probhash Kumar Karmaker, administrator of RU’s Public Relation office, yesterday.
The university authority declared the classes suspended since August 7, Prof Karmaker added.
