Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen received him at the VIP Lounge of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 9.20pm yesterday.

"We've a very good relationship. We've a very strong relationship. We've many things to discuss about taking the relationship to a higher level," he said while talking to reporters after his arrival

at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Aiming at strengthening the ties between the two countries further in the upcoming days, both the foreign minister of the two countries will hold talks at State Guest House, Jamuna in the morning today to discuss various issues like trade and business, trans-boundary rivers, border issues, foreign ministry sources said.

After the meeting a joint press briefing by both foreign ministers of Bangladesh and India will be held tomorrow at 12.00 pm to shade lights of their talks on the bilateral issues.

Later in the afternoon, S Jaishankar would meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at 5 pm.

Besides, Jaishankar was also scheduled to pay visit to the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in the capital today to pay a tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

It will be the Indian external affairs minister Jaishankar’s maiden visit to Bangladesh.

He, however, visited Bangladesh several times when he was the foreign secretary of India.

Momen and Jaishankar met in June on the sidelines of the 5th Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia or CICA in Tajikistan.

Sources said that though it is a regular meeting between the two countries on the ministerial level but it will have much importance as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to visit India to attend India Economic Summit of the World Economic Forum with the theme “Innovating for India: Strengthening South Asia, Impacting the World” to be held in New Delhi on October 3-4.
