The special water vessel services to carry holiday passengers from Barishal to other destinations have officially been colcluded yesterday night. The special service began from August 7. After celebrating Eid-ul-Azha, the highest number of passengers left Barishal for Dhaka in last three nights by 31 private launches and one state-owned steamer buying even deck ticket from black market. Md Azmal Huda Mithu, port officer of Barishal, however, said that the rush of holiday passengers till prevailing here as a large number of passengers, failed to board the launches and steamers and returned their homes as all the vessels left Barishal Port at about 7pm before two hours of the scheduled time in last three days.

After seeing the rush of passengers a mobile team led by an executive magistrate ordered the vessels authorities to leave the ghat within 7pm during the time. When this reporter visited the Barishal launch terminal in the morning found a highest number of return passengers crowded in the ghat area and space of all the vessels filled up with the Dhaka-bound passengers.

Passengers alleged that a section of launch staff and ghat labours took control of the deck space of the launches and sale that to the passengers charging Tk 400 to 500. Refuting the allegation Shek Rashim, official of Parabat launch group, said they have no knowledge over black market of tickets. “Some influential bought tickets from us and they might have sold that in the black market”, they added.

Kabir Hosen, traffic inspector of Barishal Port said some passengers complaint about black market but they failed to prove it.

However, BIWTA will be justified the claim.

Mentionable that launch ticket black marketers are very much influential here and they make a ticket syndicate in every Eid.  Almost all the booking offices remained closed during the time.

It is to be mentioned that, about 30,000 first class cabin tickets of Eid special launch of Barishal -Dhaka route have already been sold out for five days before Eid and five days after the Eid day.

All the tickets of BIWTA Eid special rocket steamer service also been sold out.
