Climate change cause health risk for children

Negative effects of climate change have resulted in health risk of our children. The government should take necessary steps for saving the future generation, said speakers at a programme.

Over 63% children (1.20 crore) are now at risk due to the effects. Frequent cyclone, flood, untimely rainfall, draught and extreme heatwave caused due to climate change put the children at risk, they said.

They remarked while addressing a national dialogue on climate financing on children at Conference Room of BRAC Centre Inn at Mohakhali in the capital recently.

Save the Children, Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER) of BRAC University, Australian Aid and Community Participation and Development (CPD) jointly organized the event.

Dr. Nurul Quadir, additional secretary (Climate Change), Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, attended as the chief guest, while Moslema Bari, executive director of CPD, chaired it.

Dr. Ainun Nishat, Adviser of BRAC University, Mostak Hussain, Humanitarian Director of the Save the Children, spoke at the event. Students from different schools in the capital took part in the dialogue.
