BCB recalls 24 players for ‘A’ team home series

Sports Reporter, Dhaka

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) recalled a total of 24 players for the training camp of the Bangladesh ‘A’ Team ahead of their forthcoming home series against their Afghan counterparts.

It is learnt from the BCB sources that 14 players among them have been called for the longer version, which will be a four-day affair, and 10 players for the one-day series.

Both types of players will practice together at the national academy of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur.

All the players reported to Mizanur Rahman Babul, the head coach of the Bangladesh ‘A’ Team at the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Mirpur yesterday.

They then sat for a meeting with coaching staffs and the team management at yesterday evening.

They all will start their intense practice sessions from today though the bulk of the players earlier practiced under the banner of the Elite Skills Camp.

The series has been comprised of two four-day matches along with a five-match one day series.

All the matches will be played at three different home grounds across the country. Three grounds are: Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) in Savar, Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium (SANS) in Khulna and Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium (KSOAS) in Fatullah.

Afghanistan ‘A’ Team are scheduled to arrive here in Bangladesh on July 1 to play the series.

Mizanur Rahman Babul said regarding this that they have been given directives from the board to prepare the team for the home series against Afghanistan ‘A’ team.

“Today the players have reported to us. We will kick-start our training session from tomorrow,” said Mizanur Rahman.

“We have a meeting at evening, where we will define the workplan for the training camp and the home series as well,” Babul told The Independent.
