Chaity makes audience emotional with comeback project

Twenty-five years ago, Lamia Tabassum Chaity, then a popular model, had appeared with model and actor Monir Khan Shimul in a television commercial (TVC) of Berger Paints. The commercial was widely admired for its unique concept and amazing performance of the model duo.

Now, Chaity has worked in a sequel of that TVC with Shimul. With this work, Chaity has returned to showbiz after a long hiatus of 19 years.

The commercial has been an instant hit as the viewers walked down memory lane after watching it. They still remember the popular dialogue from the TVC: “Shobar ghar neel hok” (Let the bedroom be blue). The TVC is being aired on various TV channels in the country.

The sequel has evoked a positive response on social media.

The sequel has been made by young and talented Bangladeshi director Adnan Al Rajeev, while the original was made by a Kolkata-based TVC maker.

About working for the TVC and receiving positive feedback from the viewers, Chaity said, “It’s now regarded as a historic TVC in our country. For the first time, a sequel of a TVC has been made after such a long time. I am really grateful to everyone related to the advertising agency Unitrend and Berger Paints for giving me an opportunity to return to my favourite workplace after so many years.”

“I also thank the maker of this TVC, Adnan Al Rajeev. While working under his direction, I have learnt that the present scenario of TVC making in our country is very modern and more organised. Actually, I really feel inspired to work regularly in this field again,” she added.

Chaity is known for her unique appearance in the TVCs of Rexona, Jui Coconut Oil and Amin Jewellers. In 1999, she, for the first time, acted in a telefilm titled ‘Chhobir Moto Meye’, directed by Afzal Hossain. Shimul, Jaya Ahsan and Afzal Hossain were her co-artistes in that telefilm. The actress lost her father the same year and stopped appearing in any showbiz project since then.

At present, Chaity is a teacher in an English-medium school in the capital’s Uttara area.
