1 lakh families to get VGF rice in Bhola

A total of over 1.08-lakh poor and distressed families will get 1633.95 tonnes of rice under special Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) Programme to celebrate the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr festivity.

Officials of the district Relief and Rehabilitation said the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has allocated the rice for distribution to the poor and distressed families in all seven upazilas in the district.

“The upazila administrations with assistance of local public representatives and union level committees are preparing to distribute the rice to listed VGF card holder families,” said District Relief and Rehabilitation officer ABM Akram Hossain. Each of the selected beneficiary families will get 15 kg VGF rice in all 68 unions under seven upazilas in the district.

The distribution process will be completed before the Eid-ul-Fitr festivity.

Under the programme, 454.305 tonnes of rice will be distributed to 30,287 VGF card holder families in Sadar upazila, 163.845 tonnes to 10,923 families in Borhanuddin upazila, 131.940 tonnes to 8,796 families in Daulatkhan upazila, 299.385 tonnes to 19,959 families in Lalmohan upazila, 102.630 tonnes to 6,842 families in Tazumuddin upazila, 417.450 tonnes to 27,830 families in Char Fasson Upazila and 63.540 tonnes to 4,236 families in Manpura upazila.
