Bangladesh will travel to Leicester City in England for a five-day practice session on Saturday following their successful 17-day-long Ireland mission. By then, they will travel to Cardiff after the conclusion of their intense training camp.

But captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and opener Tamim Iqbal will not travel with the team this time around. Of them, Mashrafe will return home from Ireland Saturday night for four days. He is expected to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport yesterday (Saturday) night. The captain will then fly on May 22 to join the team again. He is scheduled to take part in a programme hosted by ICC for the World Cup captains on Thursday.

It’ll be two and half-a-months tour for the Tigers from the Ireland’s tri-nation series to the ICC Cricket World Cup. Considering the long-stay on overseas condition, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) earlier informed the players if any player wants to come back home after the Ireland series they may come.

Those who are out of the World Cup squad are scheduled to back home after the Tri-series. But Taskin Ahmed and Nayeem Hasan among them are coming back with Mashrafe and Tamim, who will stay with them till Dubai. By then, the opener will join with his family in Dubai, from where he will back in London again.

Yasir Ali Chowdhury Rabbi and Forhad Reza will fly for Dhaka on early hour of Sunday.

The Tigers thereafter will play practice match against India and Pakistan on May 26 and 28 respectively.

Even though the drumbeat of the 2019 World Cup will start with the match of hosts England and South Africa on May 30, Bangladesh will launch their mission against South Africa at Kennington Oval in June 2.
