Daffodil International University wins ‘Rookie of the Year’ award

Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Daffodil International University has won the ‘Rookie of the year’ Award for its outstanding performance in promoting GEN Entrepreneurial effort countrywide. The award has been conferred in a colourful ceremony held recently in Manama, Bahrain during Global Entrepreneurship Congress and Dr Sabur Khan, chairman, Board of Trustees, DIU received this recognition for the university. 2500 delegates from 200 countries and 50 minister including Zunaid Ahmed Palak, state minister of ICT Division, were present in the programme, said a press release.

 Developing Entrepreneurs is the core focus of the university and to achieve the objectives the university is taking several initiatives. As a part of its effort Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of DIU is collaborating with different organisations and associations globally to give the students a Global Platform to explore their potentials.

Workshop on building research capacity in academia held at ULAB

Eighteen aspiring academics from different public and private universities recently attended a research methodology workshop on “Fundamentals of Research: From Pedagogy to Practice” organised by the Foundation for Learning Teaching and Research in association with University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) held at ULAB. Vice Chancellor of ULAB Professor Dr Jahirul Haque, and Professor Imran Rahman, special advisor to the ULAB along with the facilitators inaugurated the workshop.

National Professor Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Dr Manzoor Ahmed, professor Emeritus, BRAC University, Dr Iftekharuzzaman, executive director of TIB, Dr Fahmida Khatun, executive director of CPD and Dr HM Jahirul Haque, VC of ULAB, Professor Dr Syed Saad Andaleeb, former VC of BRAC University, Professor Dr Golam Samdani Fakir, VC of Green University of Bangladesh, Dr Farhat Anwar, professor and director of IBA, Education Specialist Mohammad Tareque Rahman attended the programme.

The speakers stressed the importance of building research capacity in Bangladesh. They emphasized the need to allocate larger proportion of GDP in different stages of education along with making research integral to teaching.
