AIUB emerge inter-university cricket champs

American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB) emerged champions in the Bangabandhu Inter University Sports Champs 2019 Cricket Tournament. AIUB beat Daffodil International University by 115 runs in the final match held at the Daffodil Cricket Ground in the capital recently.

Batting first AIUB scored 224/5 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Daffodil International University were bowled out for 109 in 15 overs. AIUB remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. Joyraz Sheik Emon of AIUB won the cap of the Man of the Final for his contribution with bat with a whirlwind 115runs off 49 balls. Md. Faisal Ahmed Sajal and Md. Tufayel Ahmed took 4 wicket each.

Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan Papon MP distributed prizes  as  chief guest. BCB Director Naimur Rahman Durjoy MP was present as  special guest.

Vice chancellor, Daffodil International University, representative from tournament sponsor were also present in the final match.  Earlier, AIUB beat NSTU, ASA university and IUBAT in group round matches.

AIUB beat Green University of Bangladesh in the quarterfinal and Independent University of Bangladesh in the semi final match. A total of  44 university (both public and private) participated in this prestigious tournament.
