Fans as well as the country’s music world witnessed several dramatic incidents recently involving LRB, the popular band of the country. The band is almost synonymous with late legendary musician, Ayub Bachchu, fondly called AB, who passed away last October.

The first incident that stirred the music world took place with the inclusion of a new member in the band. It was followed by several incidents like objection from AB’s family, which said they did not want the band members to use the name, LRB.

A week after the introduction of Balam as the new vocalist, the band was renamed as ‘Balam and the Legacy’ in deference to the decision of AB’s family. Finally, the band decided to use the name ‘LRB’ after AB’s family had given them the consent.

It is learnt that the band members will perform with the previous name, LRB and they will move ahead with AB’s creation.

Shamim Ahmed, the band manager and sound engineer, has said they have taken into consideration the last Facebook status of Ayub Bachchu’s son Ahnaf and fans’ reaction across the country. As a result, they had withdrawn their decision. “So, not as ‘Balam and the Legacy’, we will continue with the name, LRB,” he said.

However, singer Balam joined the legendary rock band LRB on April 5. His joining the band evoked mixed response across the country. The fans of Ayub Bachchu couldn’t accept Balam as the band’s new vocalist.

The next incident, which took place on April 14, came as a shock for the LRB fans. The band with the new name ‘Balam and the Legacy’ had its installation ceremony on that night. It was informed there that using the name of LRB had been deferred due to the objection of the family members of Ayub Bachchu. “From now on, songs of LRB will be presented under the name ‘Balam and the Legacy’” it was announced.

Many blamed Ayub Bachchu’s wife and two children for the change in the band name. Balam was also made responsible for the incident.

Later, Ahnaf Tazwar Ayub, the only son of Ayub Bachchu, made it clear through his Facebook post on April 16 that there was no objection from him and his family members regarding using the name, LRB.

A part of his Facebook post said, “That’s why I’m letting the remaining members of LRB (or ‘Balam and the Legacy’ as they’re calling themselves now) know that they’re free to perform as LRB as they chose initially. I wish them the very best and hope they achieve great success and keep Sollo’s music alive. I wish LRB all the success they can achieve.”

After the announcement made by Ahnaf, the band members changed their decision. The name ‘LRB’ was restored finally.

The big news for the fans of LRB and AB is that LRB will continue to perform with the name ‘LRB’.
