More research to protect environment stressed

BSS, Rajshahi

Academics and experts concerned unequivocally called for more in-depth research on environment to protect it from further degradation in the region including its vast Barind tract.

Adverse impact of climate change has been posing a serious threat to the region’s environment and overall living and livelihood condition of people.

So, the experts opined in-depth research has become an urgent need to explore the ways and means to cope with the adverse situation. They came up with the observation while addressing the opening ceremony of a daylong First Reunion- 2019 of Rajshahi University (RU) Geography and Environmental Studies Alumni Association at RU campus yesterday.

To mark the celebration, the alumni members took out a large rally on the university campus with the ‘Green Earth, Green Life’ theme. RU Vice-chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan and its Pro-VC Prof Ananda Kumar Shaha addressed the session as the chief and special guests respectively.
