3 shanties gutted in capital  
UNB, Dhaka

Three shanties were gutted in a fire that broke out a slum in the city's Tejkunipara on Wednesday night.
Sources at the Fire Service Central Control Room said the fire originated at a shanty of the Baulbagh slum by the rail tracks around 7:45pm
On information, five firefighting units rushed in and brought the fire under control around 7:58pm.
However, no casualty was reported in the fire.

Universal Sufi Festival held
Staff Reporter, Dhaka

The 16th Universal Sufi Festival, organised by Chattogram Darbar Sharif, Boalkhali, was held at Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) yesterday.
Many prominent Sufi Shaykh, Olama and people from different sects and religions attended the programme, said a press release.
‘Introspective Dialogue’ was held with Rahe Bhander Silsila’s Pir Sufi Syed Zafar Sadek in the chair.
A blood donation programme was also held  on the occasion..
This year Rahe Bhander Ennoble Award has been distributed among nine eminent personalities of the country.
Hazrat Sheikh Javed Ali Naqshbandi, India, and Dr Sheikh Ismail Kassim, Malaysia, attended the festival, among others.  
Four ‘muggers’ held in Sylhet
Correspondent, Sylhet

Police yesterday arrested four alleged muggers with arms from the city’s Mendibag area and seized a CNG-run auto-rickshaw used for criminal activities.
The arrestees were identified as Jawad Islam Arnob, 23 of Ganganagar village under Moglabazar thana, Saiful Islam, 26, of South Surma Nishchitapur village, Rubel Miah, 24, of the same village and Abdur Rahim, 32 of Alompur Borobari area under Moglabazar thana.
Sylhet Kotwali police led by sub-inspector Anup Chowdhury conducted the drive on Tuesday night. During the drive, police have recovered two knives and 3 mobile sets from them.
Kotwali police station in-charge Selim Miah said that police based on information conducted the drive in the area and arrested them and seized 3 mobile sets along with 2 knives.
