Int’l confce on genocide begins at DU Mar 24

BSS, Dhaka

The 3rd International Conference on ‘Genocide and Mass Violence’ will be held at Dhaka University (DU) from March 24 to 25, 2019.

Centre for Genocide Studies (CGS) of DU is organising the programme at the Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium, Faculty of Social Sciences on the campus, said a DU press release.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman will inaugurate the conference as the Chief Guest at 10am on Sunday.

CGS Director Professor Imtiaz Ahmed will preside over the inaugural session of the conference.

17th graduation ceremony of MIST held

BSS, Dhaka

The 17th graduation ceremony of Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) was held at Mirpur Cantonment in the capital on Tuesday.

Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed handed over certificates and medals among the newly graduate students of MIST as the chief guest, an ISPR press release said.

Speaking on the occasion he said, “My clarion call to all of you, please devote your full potentials for the development of our country with patriotism, honesty and sincerity.”

General Aziz urged the graduates to remain grateful to their parents, teachers and to the general people of Bangladesh, and advised them to pursue higher studies with work hard to fulfill their long cherished dream.

The Chief of Army Staff appreciated and commended everyone involved for the phenomenal growth of MIST, specially Services Headquarters for their guidance and continuous support. He wished all concerned would provide continuous support to MIST in building the institution as a “Centre of Excellence”.

A total of 634 students have completed their graduation this year. Among them 407 were civil, 225 military and two foreign students. BA-8281 Maj KM Zaheen Nasir, Engrs of Nuclear Science & Engineering Department was awarded Osmany Memorial Gold Medal for outstanding academic performance.

Lt General Md Mahfuzur Rahman, Principle Staff Officer of Armed Forces Division (AFD), Commodore M Munir Hasan, Commandant of MIST and other Military and Civil high officials, were present on the occasion.
