Saifuddin recovers from injury

Bss, Dhaka

Abahani Limited all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin was happy that the back trouble sustained during the practice session was not serious enough to sideline him for several matches in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL). The back trouble ruled him out of the last match of Abahani Limited and he was scared about the extent of the injury as the ICC Cricket World Cup is approaching fast.

Like other players, Saifuddin also took this DPL as the platform of preparing well for the World Cup. And he has been in great form scoring two half-centuries and taking three wickets in three matches for Abahani.

Following the back injury, he underwent a MRI which revealed nothing serious, said Saifuddin today. “I was scared with the MRI. But by the grace of Almighty, it’s all okay and positive,” he said.

“Honestly I got frightened because the World Cup is approaching fast. Like other, I have also a dream to play the World Cup. I don’t want to miss it.”

BCB chief physician Dr. Devashis Chowdhury said, Saiffudin has been given signal to play matches for Abahani Limited.

“Saifuddin’s scan report was good. There were no big issues as there is no pain now. We advised him to join the team for running and other practice,” Dr. Chowdhury said.

Abahani head coach Khaled Mahmud said Saifuddin is eligible to play for Abahani’s next match against Prime Bank Cricket Club tomorrow.

“I don’t think he has any serious problem. We’ll see tomorrow but I think he is eligible to play.”

Citing Saifuddin as the horse of long race, Mahmud said he can give Bangladesh national team service for long days if he keeps himself fit.

“He is building himself and he is a good player. I think he is the horse of long race and he might play for Bangladesh for long days if he keeps himself fit,” Mahmud hoped.

Saifuddin on the other hand eyes World Cup for the time being, terming the showcase event as his dream.

“Every match in the DPL is important for me. If I can score runs and take wickets here, it will boost my confidence ahead of the World Cup,” Saifuddin concluded.
