Bangladesh Dental Society (BDS) and Unilever Bangladesh’s oral care brand Pepsodent jointly organised a programme in the capital's Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) yesterday marking the World Oral Health Day -2019.

With the theme of ‘Say Ahh: Act on Mouth Health’, the day-long programme began with a procession in the morning.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque was the chief guest in the programme while Prof Dr Humayun Kabir Bulbul, Secretary General, BDS, delivered welcome speech.

The minister in his speech expressed his hope that a dental medical university will be established in the country to ensure better dental care for the people.

The event featured a host of activities which included the launch of new advanced toothpaste named ‘Sensitive Expert by Pepsodent’. More than 3000 dentists were present in the event.

Nafees Anwar, Beauty and Personal Care, Director of Unilever Bangladesh, in the event emphasised on being aware of the uncertified dentists/quacks and reiterated the importance of all certified dentists working in alliance with Unilever, to make sure everyone can identify the certified dentists in their community and safeguard their oral health. A major feature of the event was a brushing session with the kids, teaching them the right brushing technique and encouraging them to not miss out on twice a day brushing. Prof Dr Md Abul Kasem, president, BDS was also present in the event, among others.
