UNB, Bagerhat

Nine members of two families fell sick as an organised gang allegedly sedated them before looting their homes at Lakurtala village in Sharankhola upazila on Monday night.

The culprits made them lose consciousness mixing sleeping pills with their food and looted the houses of Alauddin alias Alo Khan and Ishak Talukder of the village, officer-in-charge of Sharankhola Police Station Dilip Kumar Sarkar said.

Finding none of the two families awake even after 10am, neighbours broke open the doors and found them lying unconscious, according to the locals.

The victims were admitted to Sharankhola Upazila Health Complex.

“The victims are out of danger now,” said Upazila Health and Family Planning officer Sheikh Sufian Rostam adding that they had regained consciousness.

Visiting the houses, victims’ relatives said criminals robbed cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth around TK 10 lakhs.
