NGO officials visit Rohingya camps

Community Initiative Society (CIS), a non-governmental organsation, arranged a field visit at Hakimpara and Jamtoli Rohingya camps along with the A-PAD members from Japan, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka and Philippine.

The Influx of the Rohingya refugees from Myanmar is a major humanitarian crisis in Bangladesh. With the permission of the local authorities, Dhaka Community Hospital Trust (DCH Trust) and Community Initiative Society (CIS), have been working in collaboration with Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management (A-PAD), GEA (Turkey),  MERCY Malaysia and Peace Winds Japan (PWJ) since September 2017.  They have been providing emergency health services, mother and child healthcare, distribution of nutritional food packs, and public health campaign.

At first the reputed members of A-PAD visited Primary HealthCare Center at Hakimpara(Camp-14) and Comprehensive Primary Health Care Centre at Jamtoli, Camp-15. After visiting the Rohingya camp they went to Khurushkul, Cox`s Bazar to host community meeting.

In the meeting Ken Onishi, CEO of Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management (A-PAD) said, “I think this is really great that Community Initiative Society along with A-PAD Bangladesh and Dhaka Community Hospital Trust to take on the part of the Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management (A-PAD) which works to develop humanitarian response capacity in disaster affected communities”. Faisal Djalal said, “In developing country frequency of disasters are increasing day by day. So it is necessary to build a network among the community in order to increase awareness among them.” Kensuke Onishi, Chief Executive Officer (A-PAD, Japan), Faisal Djalal, Chairman (A-PAD, Indonesia), Masataka Uo (A-PAD, Japan), Mohammed Firzan Jaward Hasim, Country Director (A-PAD, Sri Lanka ),Mr Nobutaka Miyahara (A-PAD, Japan ),Mr Jangwoo Lee(A-PAD, Koria), Kim Augiline Metucua Leduna (A-PAD, Philippines ),Nathania Vida Abigail Condes Guiang(A-PAD, Philippines ), Nobuhiro Kikuchi(A-PAD, Japan ),Prof. Molly Louise Kile, (Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon, USA) Rebecca Lynn Amantia (Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon, USA) Prof. QuaziQuamruzzaman, Chairman (CIS), MD Golam Mostofa, ED(CIS), Md Jabed Yousuf (DCH Trust) Sukumar Chakraborty (DCH Trust), Dr. Omar Sharif Ibne Hasan (DCH Trust), and Dr. Najmus Sakib(DCH Trust) were present there.
