UNB, Dhaka

The National Economic Council (NEC) yesterday approved a Tk 1,65,000 crore Revised Annual Development Programme (RADP) downsizing the original ADP of Tk 1,73,000 crore for the current fiscal year (FY19).

Besides, the NEC approved Tk 9,620 crore more revised ADP for autonomous bodies and corporations in the current fiscal year.

With the incorporation of this portion, the overall size of RADP rose to Tk 1,74,620 crore.

The approval came at the NEC meeting held at the NEC conference room with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

“The NEC today approved the revised ADP cutting down Tk 9,000 crore from foreign sources and adding a Tk 1,000 crore from local sources,” said Planning Minister MA Mannan at a briefing after the meeting.

Out of the main RADP size of Tk 1,65,000 crore, Tk 1,14,000 crore will come from local sources, while the rest of Tk 51,000 crore from foreign sources as project assistance, he

said.

In May 2018, the NEC approved an Annual Development Programme (ADP) of Tk 1,73,000 crore for the current fiscal (2018-19).

Out of the original ADP size of Tk 1,73,000 crore, Tk 1,13,000 crore was supposed to come from local sources, while the rest of Tk 60,000 crore from foreign sources.

The Planning Minister Mannan said the total number of projects in the RADP stood at 1,916, including 1,629 investment projects, some 154 technical assistance projects, two projects financed by the Japan Debt Cancellation Fund (JDCF) and the rest of 131 projects financed by autonomous bodies and corporations.

He said the ADP implementation during the July-February period (eight months) of the current fiscal year (FY19) reached 39.13 percent with an expenditure of Tk 70,772 crore.

Mannan said the Annual Development Programme implementation rate during the July-February period of the last fiscal year, however, was 38.01 percent with an overall expenditure of Tk 62,372 crore.
