Eminent filmmaker Tauquir Ahmed’s latest venture ‘Fagun Haway’ is now available on iflix, a video on demand service, from today. Set against the backdrop of the glorious 1952 Language Movement of Bangalee, the film was released in the countrywide cinemas this February. The film is still running successfully at several cineplexes at home and abroad. Produced by Impress Telefilm Limited, ‘Fagun Haway’ has already received huge admiration from the viewers, critics and connoisseurs. President Abdul Hamid also praised the film at a special screening held at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban on February 15.

To make it formal that ‘Fagun Haway’ on iflix, a press conference and signing ceremony held at Channel I office yesterday. Managing director of Impress Telefilm Limited and Channel i Faridur Reza Sagor, Channel i head of news Shykh Seraj and director Tauquir Ahmed were present at the press meet. On behalf of iflix, vice president of Robi Ekram Kabir and country manager of iflix Imrul Karim were also present at the signing ceremony. Besides, Tisha and Siam, who played the lead characters in ‘Fagun Haway’, also attended the event.

About releasing ‘Fagun Haway’ on iflix within a month of its release in theatres, the management of Impress Telefilm Limited said, “Impress Telefilm always makes film giving emphasis on the backgrounds of the country. Impress has solely produced the highest number of Liberation War-based films. There was a vacuum in the making of a film based on Language Movement; now, ‘Fagun Haway’ helps even a little bit to fill up this emptiness. For this reason, an initiative of spreading the gentle breeze of ‘Fagun Haway’ among the people of the country has been taken.”

Inspired by the story of Tito Rahman titled ‘Bou Kotha Kou’, ‘Fagun Haway’ has been made to highlight the significant Language Movement. After its countrywide release on February 15, the film also was released in the different cities of the USA, Canada and Australia. Alongside Tisha and Siam in the central characters, the film also stars Bollywood actor Yashpal Sharma, Bangladeshi actors Shahidul Alam Sachchu, Abul Hayat, Afroza Banu, Faruq Hossain, Saju Khadem, Azad Setu, Hasan Ahmed and Nusrat Jerry, among others. l
