The 5th International Trade Fair is going to begin at Sheikh Russel Mini Stadium in the city’s Shahi Idgah area today.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi officially inaugurated the month-long trade fair, organised by Sylhet Metropolitan Chamber
of Commerce and Indus- tries (SMCCI), on Saturday afternoon.
There will be 35 pavilions and 120 stalls. Several foreign companies including those of Thailand, Iran, Turkey, Nepal, China, India and Pakistan are taking part in the show.
The fair will remain open from 10am to 10pm everyday with an entry fee of TK 20. No fees will be taken for children with disabilities.
MA Moin Khan Babu, chief coordinator of the fair, said that the entire site will be kept under CCTV surveillance alongside plenty of security guards to ensure fool-proof security in and around the venue.
