Varsities observe Int’l Mother Language Day

Different public and private universities observed Shaheed Dibas and International Mother Language Day with due solemnity.

 Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) chalked out elaborate programmes marking the day. The programmes, included hoisting the national flag at half-mast, wearing black badges, rally, offering floral wreath at the University Shaheed Minar, discussion programme, prayer session at the university central mosque after Zohr prayer.

Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof Md Giashuddin Miah along with high officials paid home to the language heroes by placing wreath at the Shaheed Minar .

A discussion programme on Shaheed Dibash and International Mother Language Day also held on the university Shaheed Minar premises where vice-chancellor was present as a chief guest.

To observe the Southeast University organised a discussion meeting and cultural programme. The programme started with morning procession. Representative Member of BoT, vice-chancellor, faculty members, students, clubs, alumni students and officials placed floral wreaths at the SEU Shaheed Minar.

Prof ANM Meshquat Uddin, vice-chancellor of Southeast University, presided over the programme while Dr Jasim Uddin Ahmed, Leading Language Movement Activist & Eminent Nuclear Scientist was present as the chief guest. At the end of the ceremony, a Doa was conducted for the martyrs.

Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) held various programmes including morning procession,  placing wreath at the BUBT’s Shaheed Minar, discussion and cultural sessions. The discussion was organized at the Hall room of BUBT permanent campus at Rupnagar, Mirpur-2, where Ekushey Padak wnner Prof Syed Manzurl Islam was the chief guest.
