10pc salary for pension

Non-govt teachers for withdrawal of decision

UNB, Dhaka

Teachers and employees of non-government educational institutions yesterday urged the government not to take 10 per cent of their monthly salaries for pension board and welfare trust. Bangladesh Non-Government Teachers' and Employees' Forum also demanded nationalisation of the institutions at a press meet at the Jatiya Press Club.

"Previously, the amount reserved for pension board and welfare trust was six percent of the total salary. But after the newly issued order, it has been increased to 10 percent," said Md Saidul Hasan Selim, president of the forum.

The organisation said the four percent rise was ordered through two separate notices issued by the Madrasah Education Board and the Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board.

Selim said they had staged countrywide demonstrations on Feb 3 submitted memorandums to their respective district commissioners on Tuesday seeking abolition of the order, the forum said.
