33 bodies of unborn babies recovered

UNb, Barishal

Thirty-three bodies of unborn babies, which were preserved at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for research, were recovered from a dustbin of the hospital last night. Hospital ward master Modasser Ali said conservancy workers of Barisal City Corporation found the bodies in the trash bin behind the hospital building around 9pm while cleaning it and informed the hospital authorities. Conservancy worker Reazul Islam said they found embryos while cleaning the dustbin at night. Hospital director Dr Bakir Hossain said the embryos are 25-30 years old and those were kept at the college lab for research work of its students. "Those were dumped into the dustbin as those are not useable." Officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station Nurul Islam said they were looking into the matter.
