Technology-based civic services underscored

Experts at a training course have underscored the need for providing technology-based civic services to the common people in a hassle-free manner for ensuring transparency and accountability.

They came up with the observation yesterday at concluding function of the two-day ‘E-filing affairs training course’ arrange for officials and employees of Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) at Northern Tech BD Centre in the city.

The RpCC authority organised the training course under the auspices of the access to information (a2i) programme of the Prime Minister’s Office aiming at enhancing skill and capacity of the participants on e-filing in all office activities.

Thirty officials and employees of RpCC participated in the training course. Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa attended the function as the chief guest with Chief Executive Officer of RpCC Akhter Ahmed Azad in the chair.

Secretary of RpCC Abu Saleh Md Musa Jongi, Assistant Commissioner of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Shakila Pervin, expert of the a2i programme Al Fattah and City Councilor Mahbubar Rahman Manju addressed the function as special guests.  The speakers said the government is encouraging application of the information and communication technologies (ICT) adopting computer, digitised devices and internet in official activities to reach all services easily at the people’s doorsteps.  Mayor Mostafa appreciated the government initiatives of launching technology-based civic services at all levels making life of the common people easier, comfortable and technology-based side by side with accelerating national development.
