Seminar on renewable energy held at DUET

A discussion on ‘Renewable energy and energy conservation’ was held  in order to create awareness among  the students  of Dhaka Engineering and Technology University (DUET), Gazipur at the  seminar hall of the university on Tuesday.

The programme was  jointly organised  by DUET and  the sustainable and renewable energy development authority ( Sreda) of the government.

Vice-chancellor of the university Prof Mohammed Alauddin presided over the programme while chairman of  Sreda Moahmmed Helal Uddin spoke as the chief guest in the programme. Member of Sreda (energy efficiency and preservation) and also additional secretary Siddik Jubair spoke as special guest. On the other hand, a seminar on the possibility and challenge of renewable energy in Bangladesh was held at the same venue at noon.

2 Ctg colleges to have 10-storey buildings

Each of Chattogram Govt College and Govt City College here will have a 10-storey academic building for the first time. Sources with the Education Engineering Department (EED) said the college buildings will be built at a cost of Tk 12 crore under the post-graduate project of the Education Ministry.

Besides, another five-storey building will be built at Govt Commerce College. On completion of these buildings, over 8000 students will get a better accommodation facility at the institutions.

Talking to the news agency, EED Executive Engineer Mohammad Jalaluddin said the construction of academic buildings at Govt Commerce College and Govt. City College has already been started in the meantime.

He said the work order has been issued for the construction of Chattogram Govt College building. The cost of the building has been estimated at Tk five crore.

The sources said the work on 10-strey buildings is expected to be completed by December 2020 and the five-storey building by end of the current year.

Book tilled ‘Unfinished memoirs’ distributed at IU

UNB, Islamic University

The autobiography of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman titled ‘Unfinished Memoirs’ was distributed among the students of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Tuesday.

Mijanur Rahman Lalon, activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) IU unit, distributed the books at the premises of Mrittunjay Mujib among two hundred students of different departments of the university.

Mijanur Rahman Lalon said that he distributed the books for spreading ideology of Bangabandhu among the fresh students of the university.

He urged the government to include the book in the syllabus of textbook.

Among others, IUTA secretary Prof M Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya, Economics department chairman Prof M Abu Raihan, Prof Mamun, Professor Debashish Sharma, Prof Kazi Mostafa Arif, Partho Sarathi Laskar, Abdul Jalil Pathan Mithila Tanzil and Shamima Nasreen were present on the occasion.

‘Youth must uphold Bangabandhu’s ideology’

State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmed  said imbued with the ideology of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the new generation should uphold the spirit of Liberation War.

“The new generation should know the overall history of the Liberation War… The ideology of Bangabandhu and the freedom fighters must be kept in their hearts,” he said at a rally on Rangpani Captain Rashid High School and College premises at Jaintapur of the district on Tuesday.

He also said Bangabandhu struggled for the liberation of the Bengali nation  that is why we have the responsibilities to fulfill his dreams.
