Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries yesterday honored its members who have been elected as the members of the 11th National Parliament. During a simple ceremony held at a city hotel, the BAPI members and the newly elected lawmakers were accorded a reception with token of appreciations and flower bouquets.

The seven BAPI members who were elected as MPs are—Salman F Rahman (Dhaka-1), Nazmul Hassan (Kishorganj-6), Dr AFM Ruhal Haque (Satkhira-3), Habibe Millat (Sirajganj-2), Ebadul Karim (Brahmanbaria-5), Ahsanul Islam Tito (Tangail-6) and Mamunur Rashid Kiran (Noakhali-3).

Addressing the gathering, BAPI advisor Salman F Rahman said, “With seven lawmakers from the pharmaceutical sector, you now have a strong lobby in the parliament. We hope to solve any problems to take this sector forward.”

“Pharmaceutical business is not a simple business and we have to impose a proper self-regulation to maintain the quality of the medicines that we produce,” he added.

BAPI President Nazmul Hassan said, “The country is moving forward under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina and we are proud that from pharmaceutical industry, we are playing our small part in it.”
