Independent Television, one of the most prominent news channels of the country, is going to air a quiz show titled ‘Bangladesh Jiggasha’ on the achievements, successes and failures of the country since independence.  It will be broadcast at 10pm every Friday and Saturday from October 12.

The main attraction of the show would be prizes amounting to Tk 1.77 crore for the participants. There will be prizes for the participants from the first round to the final.

The champion will get Tk. 1 crore, while the first runner-up will get Tk. 25 lakh. The second and the third runners-up will get Tk. 15 lakh and Tk. 5 lakh respectively.  Each semi-finalist will get Tk. 2 lakh and each quarter finalist Tk. 1 lakh. Even those who qualify for first and second second rounds qualifiers will get Tk. 50,000 and Tk. 25,000 each respectively. Besides, the organisers have attractive prizes for the participating spectators.  The announcement of the quiz show has been made jointly by M Shamsur Rahman, CEO and editor-in-chief of Independent Television, and Shah Alam Sarwar, managing director and CEO of IFIC Bank, sponsor of the show, at a press conference at the office of Independent Television in the capital.

Shah Md Moinuddin, deputy managing director and head of business of IFIC Bank, and Khaled Muhiuddin, executive editor of Independent Television, were also present on the occasion. Before taking part in the show, the participants have to go through an online registration procedure. Any Bangladeshi citizen aged 18 years and above can take part in the quiz.

The registration is open between September 19 and September 27 on the web address www.bangladeshjiggasha.com. The registration can be done by logging into the official web page of Independent Television www.independent24.com and its facebook page www.facebook.com/IndependentTVNews.  

The registered participants will only get the opportunity to take part in an online test on September 28, 29 and 30. They can login to complete the exam within the stipulated time limit. One participant cannot register more than once. The schedule of the online competition will be announced via news and social media.

Next, candidates accomplishing the online round will qualify for the divisional round of the quiz. A written test will be held at the divisional level simultaneously in Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, Mymensingh and Rangpur.  A total of 64 contestants, eight from eight divisions, will be chosen for ‘Bangladesh Jiggasha’.   

About the show, M Shamsur Rahman said, “ It was a big challenge to ensure participation of all and to create a platform. Independent Television has accepted the challenge and IFIC Bank is standing by us.”
