Our correspondent, Gazipur

Police recovered the bodies of a woman and an eight-year-old boy from Huffazul Quran Madrasa campus in Chandna of Gazipur city early yesterday. The deceased were identified as Mahmuda Akter, 21, wife of madrasa director Mohammed Ibrahim Khalil, and Mamun, a student of the madrasah.

Moktar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bashan Police Station under Gazipur Metropolitan police (GMP), said Ibrahim Khalil and his wife used to live inside the madrasas. Ibrahim spotted the bodies after returning home after Fajr prayer and informed police, said the OC.

Police also recovered  a blood stained sharp weapon from the bedroom of Mahmuda where she and the boy were murdered. There were multiple injuries on their bodies, said the OC.

Ibrahim Khalil is the key suspect in the case, the OC said citing some students. Police are interrogating him over the incident, he said. Another child of Mahmuda Abu Huraira, 3, was also injured in the incident. Ibrahim Khalil established  the madrasa about one year ago after renting a house in the area. He used to live with his second wife Mahmuda Akter and two children in a room of the madrasa. He found the bodies after returning home from a mosque after Fajr prayer, polce said quoting Ibrahim.

Mahmuda’s father Mohammed Hanif Gazi said Ibrahim married Mahmuda  about six years ago, but they did not know about Ibrahim’s first marriage. His first wife threatened Mahmuda a few months ago.  On the other hand, Mamun’s father Shahidul Islam who worked at a dairy farm in Gafargaon of Mymensing, said, Mamun got admitted to the madrasa a year ago.

He demanded arrest and punishment of those who were involved with the incident. GMP Commissioner YM Belalur Rahman said, “We are investigating into the incident and trying to find out those who are involved in this connection.”
