“I want to continue acting until death”, Shirin Alam

From the theatre’s stage to small screen, Shirin Alam also got admiration by the audiences for her silver screen appearance in a number of films.  Shirin, a well-known actress in Bangladesh’s acting arena, has skilfully portrayed a number of different characters and made herself a professional actress.

Receiving love from the audiences for her performence, Shirin Alam said to DhakaLive, “I never doubted my decision for taking up acting as my profession from the beginning. Not everybody has got the chance to act. It was the blessing of the Almighty Allah and cordial support of others, which has made me an actress. It is a big achievement for me. I want to continue acting until death.”

The actress began her small screen journey with Mominur Rashid Millat’s tele-drama ‘Ovishap’ in the year 2000. However, before that, Shirin was a member of renowned theatre troupes Padadhwani for 10 years and later joined Nagorik Natya Sampradaya for one year. With the Padadhwani, the actress has performed in the plays titled ‘Mama Montri Hoben’ and ‘Babar Biye’.

After her small screen debut, Shirin has acted under the direction of Abdullah Al Mamun in a number of tele-dramas namely ‘Baba’, ‘Songshar’ and ‘Joar Bhata’, among others. The actress had also got attention of the viewers for her portrayal in Zahid Hasan’s drama serial ‘Lal Neel Beguni’.

Under the direction of Abul Hayat, the actress acted in Kazi Nazrul Islam’s story based tele-drama titled ‘Jhilimili’. After that, Shirin worked in number of projects under the same director.

Shirin Alam was also mostly praised for her performances in the tele-dramas ‘Ghorkutum’, ‘Dholer Baddo’, ‘Harkiptey’ and ‘Shilbari’ under the direction of Salahuddin Lavlu.

Shirin’s noteworthy big screen projects include Gias Uddin Selim’s ‘Monpura’, Tauquir Ahmed’s ‘Daruchini Dwip’, Chashi Nazrul Islam’s ‘Shasti’ and Shahin Sumon’s ‘Love Marriage, among others.

 The actress is currently working in drama serials of Saiyed Saied’s ‘Prem Nagar’, Sanjit Sakar’s ‘Majnu Ekjon Pagol Nohey’ and Ashish Roy’s ‘Bhalobashar Rong’.
