She has a dream – coming up with something beyond what she does day in and day out. She nurtures it carefully up until this stage – at the end of her profession as a teacher spanning three decades. Still, her passion refuses to die out. Where many would suggest that she call it a day, she begins afresh. Professor Rashida Hossain, former professor of the marketing department of Lalmatia Women’s College, has been running an online business for last three years, connecting those who produce home-made food and clothes with those who love to have them.

Women like Rashida made the Midas Center a hub of dreamers at ‘Vim presents Cookups Night bazaar’ event held a few weeks ago. On that day the country’s biggest utensil cleaner brand by Unilever- Vim and homemade online food marketplace - Cookups jointly organized the event featuring homemade iftar, dinner, sehri and crafts.

“Though the online market is considered a suitable place for women, there are many challenges existing here as well. And to overcome those challenges entrepreneurs need a platform. I met some of my regular customers today. This event helps us understand the competitive landscape and endow us with the chance to promote our products,” she said.

The Night Bazaar draws threads from the Middle East where entrepreneurs exhibit their products in an event like Mela or fair. Night Bazaar gathers popularity in India as well, and Bangladesh is not going to miss out on that either. Night Bazaar has been featuring colorful nights since last year.

Namira Hossain, CEO of Cookups, said about this bazaar, “The event draws inspirations from the Middle East’s night bazaar. This initiative is designed to empower women economically in addition to giving them a chance to create their identities in the society by fulfilling their dreams. We are proud to note that Vim partners with us in this initiative. This event has featured clothes, ornaments, showpieces and crafts made by local entrepreneurs apart from food items prepared by Cookups registered cooks.”

Nearly 25 organizations including Cookups, Footloose Bd, Aranya, MUCHI, Muze, Stav Clothing, LongSpring, Hulo Kraft, Kraftz, parmeeda.com, Shashyaprabartana, Khaas Food, B's Closet, The Attire Affair, Maku, SoaperStar, Kajoli Kantha, Junk Art, BookmyLook, Home Junction, Bangla Haat participated in the event.
