Double-capacity Pangu Hospital to start activities in September

Health Minister Mohammed Nasim yesterday said that the 500-bed National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor), popularly known as Pangu Hospital, will be turned into a 1,000-bed one with the inauguration of a new 14-storey building in September, reports UNB.

After visiting the new building, he said that the hospital is being expanded at the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to cope with the huge pressure of patients at the hospital.

The health minister also said work on the new building is at the final stage.

"The activities of the expanded hospital will begin in September. This will be Asia's largest orthopaedic hospital," he said.

Mentioning that there will be modern equipment at the hospital, Mohammad Nasim said it will be possible to provide better treatment using these.
