Metro CNG App launched in Dhaka, Ctg

Staff Reporter

The ride-sharing ‘Metro CNG App’ was launched in Dhaka and Chittagong on Saturday. Using this app, passengers can book a CNG (auto-rickshaw) or motorcycle ride and rent a car or a taxi service at government-approved rates. The announcement came at a press conference at the Press Club in Dhaka on Saturday. This app will benefit both auto-rickshaw drivers and passengers. Owing to traffic congestion, drivers can make only six to seven trips. But thanks to the app, they may get more passengers. The latter, of course, can find their rides easily. Initially, 200 auto-rickshaws will operate in Dhaka and Chittagong as part of this app. The rent for the first two kilometres will be Tk. 40. Every subsequent kilometre will cost Tk. 12. The waiting charge will be Tk. 2 per minute. The app can be downloaded from Google Play Store. It even has an SOS button to ensure passengers and drivers’ safety. Users can call 999 if they are threatened in any way. Drivers will be able to see the passengers in their area through the ‘Demand Spot’ button. The app has been launched by Metro Transport IT Solutions Ltd. The company’s press adviser Mustafa Kamal Akanda made the presentation. Mia Mohammad, the administrative officer of the company, read out a written statement. Chairman and CEO of Metro CNG Khandaker Abu Zafar and managing director Saidur Rahman were also presented at the press conference.
