Marking the historic March 7 speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, an eleven-day event titled ‘Bangabandhu Cultural Festival’ is going on in full swing on the premises of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital as well as different district Shilpakala Academy premises.
BSA has organised the festival featuring art camp, art competition, recitation, music, theatre, film screening, film workshop and others at different venues of the academy.
As a part of the festival, an art competition was held yesterday at the National Art Plaza of BSA on different topics including ‘Bangabandhur Shaishab’, ‘Bangabandhur Koishar’, ‘Bangabandhur Osampto Atmajiboni’, ‘Bangabandhur Karagarer Rojnamcha’, ‘Bangabandhu O Bhasha Andolon’ and ‘Bangabandhu O Mukti Juddha’.
After the art competition, Multimedia Puppet Theatre presented a puppet show directed by artist Mostafa Monwar at the Art Plaza of BSA.
Today, a dance recital, with the song ‘Nritya Projojona Ebong Sur O Banite Bangabandhu’, will be performed at 6pm at the National Art Plaza of BSA by the different dance troupes.
Earlier on March 7, the festival has begun with an art camp with the participation of 47 artists of Bangladesh.
Also, as part of ‘Bangabandhu Cultural Festival 2018’, a stage performance ‘Shishuder Bangabandhu’ was held at the National Theatre Hall of BSA on the inaugural day, while an event ‘Banglar Mohioshi Nari’ featuring music, dance, and recitation was held at the National Music and Dance Centre auditorium of the academy on March 8.
Besides, an event ‘Kabita O Gane Bangabandhu’ was held on March 9, where poet Nirmalendu Goon, Kazi Rosy, Kamal Chowdhury, Dr Mohammad Samad, Robindra Gope, Tariq Sujat, Aslam Sani recited poems. Ramendu Majumdar and Ataur Rahman read out Bangabandhu’s ‘Osampto Atma Jiboni’ and ‘Karagarer RojNamcha’ respectively. Noted cultural personalities Syed Hasan Imam, Ashraful Alam, Jayanta Chattopadhyay, Kristy Hafiz, Shahadat Hossain Nipu and Rokeya Prachi were present at the event.
The festival will end with the celebration of the birthday of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on March 17.
