ACC to probe 3 AL, BNP leaders

UNB

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to launch investigation against three senior leaders of Awami League (AL) and BNP, one of them a current member of parliament from the ruling party and two others are former BNP lawmakers, over allegation of acquiring illegal wealth, reports UNB. The three are Awami League MP Mizanur Rahman and former BNP MPs Ruhul Kuddus Dulu and Asadul Habib Dulu, ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB yesterday. He said that Khulna-2 constituency MP and Awami League leader Mizanur Rahmanmisused his power in Khulna City Corporation and other government offices in his constituency to secure work orders in the name of his family members.

“He finished those works in low standard to embezzle the money. His illegal earning of around TK 100 crore was used in drug trade,” ACC’s public relations officer said.

He added that BNP’s former lawmaker Ruhul Kuddus Dulu earned Tk 500 crore from different government projects of Natore during the tenure of the BNP government.

“Another former MP of the BNP, Asadul Habib Dulu, acquired huge money illegally during the tenure of the BNP government, from Lalmonirhat and Rangpur region by providing tender works to traders of his choice,” he also added.
