Prof Shahana Akther Rahman, chairman of Paediatrics Department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), has been made first ever female pro-vice chancellor of the varsity, reports BSS.
She has been appointed as pro-vice chancellor (education) yesterday for three years by chancellor of the varsity and President Md Abdul Hamid, an
official release said yesterday.
BSMMU sources said Prof Shahana joined her new office yesterday.
Prof Shahana, wife of former Bangladesh Bank governor Dr Atiur Rahman, attained her MBBS degree from Dhaka Medical College in 1982. A proud mother of three daughters, Prof Shahana is active in medical studies, service and research from 1991.
More than hundred research papers of her have been published in different local and foreign journals and Prof Shahana has supervised more than 30 MD and FCPS research works as thesis guide.
