Internet users now 50m

The number of internet users has crossed more than 50 million in July, according to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) data.
Chaiman of BTRC Sunil Kanti Bose has said that crossing this milestone has only been possible because of reduction in bandwidth price along with improvement in quality of service. He also added that people are becoming more aware of internet usage day by day.
The slab price in bandwidth has been reduced from yesterday by 41 per cent to Tk 625 from Tk 1,068 for 1 MBPS bandwidth, which in turn will help the subscriber to end up using internet at a lower price, said Secretary of BTRC Sarwar Alam.
