Dhaka to take part in 6 disciplines

A total of 41-member- contingent has been finaliaed for the upcoming 21st Commonwealth Games to be held in Gold Coast, Australia, from August 18 to September 2.

Bangladesh will compete in six disciplines – athletics, swimming, weightlifting, shooting, boxing and wrestling. The contingent is expected to leave for Gold Coast March 24.

The Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) has decided to send an 18-mmber shooting team. It is highly expected that shooting is the best promising event to win medals in the Games, as 13 shooters, three coaches and two officials included in the 41 men squad of the games.

Intekhabul Hamid Apu, secretary general of the Bangladesh Shooting Federation, said that they will participate in the different events to create possibility win medals with Shakil Ahmed, Armin Asha and Atkia have the prospect to win medal.

Participants of different disciplines are: 

Athletics- Mejbah Ahmed, Shirin Akhter and Khurshida Khatun.

Boxing- Mohammed Robin Meah, Al Amin, Kazi Abdul Mannan.

Weightlifting- Biddut Kumar Roy, Shimul Kanti Singh, Fulpoti Chakma, Mabia Akhter Shimanta, Jahura Khatun Nisha and Fahima Akhter Moyna.

Swimming- Rezaul Hossain Badshah, Ariful Islam, Mohammed Mahmudunnabi Nahid and Nazma Khatun.

Shooting- Abdullah Hel Baki, Shovon Chowdhury, Risalatul Islam, Rabbi Hassan Munna, Shakil Ahmed, Anwar Hossain, Armin Asha, Ardina Ferdous, Amira Hamid, Syeda Atkia Hassan, Zakia Sultana, Suriya Akhter, Sharmin Shilpa, Clabszon Christensen, Marko Shafique, Hosne Ara Begum, Golam Shafiuddin Khan and Inkekhabul Hamid Apu.

Wrestling- Al Amzad, Shirin Sultana and Tabibur Rahman Palwan. Administrative officials- Mohammed Habibur Rahman.
