‘Swajan Week-2018’ begins at RU Feb 11

RAJSHAHI: Swajan, a voluntary blood donating organisation at Rajshahi University (RU), will hold 'Swajan Week-2018' on the campus on February 11. The programme will continue till February 15.

The programme will include free blood group test, voluntary blood donation and member collection campaign.

Literary Award 2017 at SEU on Sunday

Southeast University (SEU) is going to organise ‘Literary Award 2017’ at the seminar hall of SEU permanent campus at Tejgaon in the capital on Sunday at 5.30pm, says a press release.

Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, MP, will grace the occasion as the chief guest. Professor Emeritus Dr Anisuzzaman and Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan, director general, Bangla Academy, will be the special guests. Other distinguished guests and senior journalists will be present at the ceremony.

Discussion on Rabindranath held at IUB

The School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organised a discussion titled ‘Photography and Iconic Personality: Rabindranath Tagore’ on Monday on IUB’s own campus at Bashundhara in the capital, says a press release.

Malavika Karlekar, Professor at  the Centre for Women’s Development Studies, New Delhi and Co-Editor of the Indian Journal of Gender Studies discussed on the topic.

Prof Karlekar hails from a distinguished Bengali family of Kolkata closely associated with the Bengal Renaissance of the 19th and early 20th century. She has deep interest in women's memoirs and family photographs and has extensively worked in these areas. Her scholarly publications contain a wealth of visual and textual information, especially for researchers in the fields of history, sociology and gender studies.

At the outset, Prof M Omar Rahman, Vice-chancellor, IUB and Dr Mahbub Alam, dean, School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (SLASS), delivered the welcoming remarks. Obydullah Al Marjuk, Sr Lecturer of SLASS, introduced the Speaker to the audience.

Throughout the presentation, Dr Karlekar, from the childhood, brought forward the entire charismatic life of Rabindranath Tagore while the audience witnessed the poet’s accomplishments live on the screen. Following the presentation, the floor was open for question-answer session. Academics, trustees of the university, senior members of the faculty and administration and a full-house students attended the programme.

Seminar on research methodology held

RANGPUR: A day-long seminar on 'Research Methodology:  Questionnaires Development' was held at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) yesterday.

Dr Wazed Research and Training Institute (DWRTI) of the university  organised the seminar at its virtual class room in the campus, said a press  release.

Vice-chancellor of BRUR and Director of DWRTI Prof Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah formally inaugurated the seminar.  Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Change Maker Syed Tamjidur Rahman  conducted the seminar as the keynote speaker.

Moderated by Research Officer of DWRTI Mehzabeen Elahi, research fellows of DWRTI, teachers and students of different departments and officials of DWRTI participated in the seminar.  Syed Rahman discussed about various characteristics of research  methodologies, techniques for preparing questionnaire and other aspects for successfully conducting research activities.  He also answered various questions asked by the participants and forwarded suggestions for research works.

Souvenir cover unveiled at RU

The cover of the 4th souvenir was unveiled at Rajshahi University (RU) recently. The Souvenir, edited by Anthropology department, was launched at departmental gallery room at the Syed Ismail Hossain Siraji Building on the campus.  

Prof Adil Hasan Chawdhury, chairman of Anthropology department presided over the programme while convener of editing committee of Souvenir associate Kazi Robiul Islam, Prof Liton Hossain, among others, were also present there.
