Prabir Mitra eager to return to acting

The National Film Award winning actor Prabir Mitra has not been seen acting for quite a some time as the actor is spending most of his time in his Shegunbagicha residence in the capital. As he is suffering from knee problems for the last 10 years, he now faces difficulty in walking. Despite this limitation, the actor wants to return to acting, if any character is suitable for him that requires less movement.

Prabir Mitra is now passing his time leisurely, watching television, reading newspaper and interacting with his known people and relatives. His wife Ajanta Mitra passed away in 2000 while his younger son passed away in 2012. Now, because of his knee problem, he remains in the house almost all the time.

About his wish to act, Prabir Mitra said, “ The only thing that I can do is acting, and I can not do nothing else apart from this. I want to continue my acting for the whole life. But who will give me the chance for acting in this physical state? But yes, if the acting requires sitting or less movement, then I can do it. I only have problem in my knee, but apart from this, I am completely healthy.”

Prabir Mitra won the prestigious National Film Award for his role in the film ‘Boro Bhalo Lok Chilo’ directed by Mohiuddin. In the beginning of his career, Prabir Mitra played the role of hero in a number of films. Then, he started playing  different types of characters according to the demand of the story in numerous films and earned huge admiration from the viewers. He last acted in ‘Briddhassram’ which was directed by SD Rubel.
