Bangladeshi talented actress Joya Ahsan, who earned immense appreciation from both local and Indian viewers for her stunning presence in the Indian Bengali drama film ‘Bishorjan’ directed by Kaushik Ganguly, won the Zee Cine Awards in the category of best actress.

Indian filmmaker Ashwini Iyer Tiwari handed over the award to Joya Ahsan at an award ceremony at the BK Grounds in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The film ‘Bishorjan’ tells a tale of love beyond the borders, where Joya portrays the character of a Hindu widow who lives in Bangladesh.

After receiving the award, Joya Ahsan expressed her feelings by saying, “Zee Cine Award is a prestigious award and I am feeling great by achieving the award. I am grateful to director Kaushik Ganguly for offering me the role. I am also thankful to the entire team of the film 'Bishorjan'.”

“In future I want to present better films to my audience. For that I seek everyone’s payer,” she added.

Earlier in 2016, Joya Ahsan won the Kolkata’s Tele-Cine Award in the category of best supporting role for the Indian Bengali drama film ‘Rajkahini’ directed by Srijit Mukherji.

Joya Ahsan also received three Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress for her roles in ‘Guerrilla’ in 2011, ‘Chorabali’ in 2012 and ‘Zero Degree’ in 2015.
