With the pace of the tournament’s progress, the competition in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) amongst the BPL franchisee teams going for the next phase gradually is gelling.

Now all the franchisees are being focused more on their games along with bringing quality foreign players what is needed for their team combination to survive in this fierce competition race.

With a day break the matches of the ongoing Dhaka leg of the BPL will resume at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur today.

Star-studded Dhaka Dynamites, who are in the pole position at the points table with nine points, will get down playing their seventh but fifth match of the Dhaka leg against resurgent Comilla Victorians in the day’s first match at 1:00pm.

The red-hot favourites team held their pre-match day practice session with the involvement of the foreign and local players at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground yesterday.

Before the start of their intense training session, Dynamites head coach Khaled Mahmud Sujon spoke to media, whereby he flatly informed their improvement with bat and ball along with better fielding are being done with the pace of the tournament’s progress.

“So far we play well. The first match was worse for us. Therefore, we played better cricket in terms of batting, bowling and fielding,” said Khaled Mahmud.

“Actually we improved a lot in three departments. Obviously we hope that tomorrow will be a good day for us. We will play better cricket and the result in tomorrow’s match will also be better,” Sujon told newsmen.

“We will try to grab the momentum from the initial stage and that’s important for us. I can say that our team is now in good shape. Definitely, you could not underestimate any team in BPL,” he added.

Citing Comilla Victorians, who championed in BPL in its 2015 season, as the strongest side, Dynamites head coach said that they have to reach at the zenith of the tournament by fighting against the big teams like Victorians.

“Definitely, I think, Comilla Victorians is a very stronger side. We have to stay prepared to do better by playing against big teams,” the head coach said.

“Hopefully we will do better. Tomorrow will be another new day for us. We will prepare ourselves for the match,” he also said.

Pakistan in-form fast bowler Mohammad Amir reached  Dhaka on Saturday to play his second BPL. It will definitely be a big boost for the pace battery of the defending champions.

On Amir, Mahmud also acknowledges that he is definitely a plus point for the team but they will fix their team combination to see the strength and weakness of the opponent.

“He (Amir) just comes yesterday (Saturday). Let’s see what happens. We will do what is better for the team and its combination on the basis of the opponent,” the former national captain said, adding: “It’s a plus point for the team having a player like him. He has good ability with the old ball. He also could show his grits with the new ball. Let’s see what team combination we formed for the tomorrow match keeping the opponent team in mind that’s important.”

Even though Dhaka Dynamites lost their opener, they won four matches and a match washout off six outings. When asked about their win one after another, Sujon said that they have a good team combination and play in the field as a team.

“The mystery behind winning in a row is that we are playing as a team. We have some fantastic players in the side. All they are match winners in our team,” the coach said.

“One day Omee showed his grits. Pollard, Evin Lewis, Delport are doing well. Rony among the local players is doing well.  Shakib did his brilliance in the last match with the ball. We have Sunil Narine and Shahid Afridi in the team. All are match winners. We have a good team combination and play as a team,” he also said.

“In such type of the tournament, it takes time to gell. It’s a good think that everybody helps one another in the ground. If we could continue it we will then be done well in the next times also,” he added.
