Ten new companies show EOI to buy BPL teams

Sports Reporter

A total of 13 corporate houses submitted their expression of interest (EOI) for taking part in the third edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), scheduled to be held in November-December. Three old franchisees along with new 10 companies submitted the paper, revealed the sources after the deadline ended yesterday.
Rangpur Riders, Sylhet Royals and Duronto Rajshahi were the three previous teams among the seven franchisees submitted the EOI.
The other 10 new companies are- Beximco Group, Prime Bank, Square, Ha-meem Group, Summit Group, Index Group, Envoy Group, Sohana Group, Asian Group and DBL Group. BCB media and communications chairman Jalal Younus said that they got a good response from the corporate houses.
“The response is good. What I have heard that 10 companies, submitted their expression of interests at the last day. This number could be increased,” said Jalal Younus. He however refused to reveal the name of the corporate houses that showed their interest to buy the teams. “We will disclose the names of the interested companies after tomorrow’s (Tuesday) meeting of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) governing body.”
Younus said that submitting the EOI doesn’t mean that the companies are ensured to buy the team.  “It is not final. We will scrutinize the documents of the concerned companies. Thereafter, the board will finalise the seven companies for the seven franchisees.” “Each team will spend maximum of Tk. 8 crore as the entire budget for the team. We will give them a concept of letter in this regard. We have fixed it considering the socio-economic aspect of the country.”
