Contribution of Dr Ibrahim recalled

Speakers at a memorial meeting yesterday in the capital said “Dr Ibrahim dedicated his whole life for the service of the humanity.”

  The meeting was held at the BIRDEM auditorium and it was organised by the Bangladesh Diabetic Somiti (BADAS) marking the 28th death anniversary of National Professor Dr M Ibrahim.

They also said “his (Dr Ibrahim) aim and ideal was “No diabetic patient shall die unfed, untreated and unemployed even if poor”. “We can pay our respect to this great soul only by giving quality services to the patients” they added.

The memorial meeting was also addressed among others by Prof Zamilur Reza Chowdhury, Vice President, Dr Sarwar Ali, Vice President, Md Sayef Uddin; Secretary General of Bangladesh Diabetic Somiti (BADAS), Mahbubuzzaman, Member National Council BADAS, Prof Nazmun Nahar, DG, BIRDEM, Zamil Majid, ex-secretary and ambassador and Mrs Nilufer Begum, Ex-DG, Directorate of Female Affaires.

Prof A K Azad Khan, President, Bangladesh Diabetic Somiti (BADAS) presided over the session.    

The death anniversary of Professor Dr Md Ibrahim was observed yesterday through other programmes like placing wreaths at the Banani graveyard of Dr Md Ibrahim, discussion session between selected diabetic patients and specialised physicians, free heart camp at Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital, providing improved diet for the patients, bring out special issue of `Kanti'; a periodicals of Bangladesh Diabetic Somiti (BADAS) , doa hahfil, free diabetes screening programme at different places of the city, etc.  

The Ibrahim Memorial Oration was also held at BIRDEM auditorium where Dr Prasanta Tripathy, Director, EKJUT, India has presented a lecture on child health.
