File case against four over Paltan manhole death: HC

The High Court (HC) yesterday ordered police to file a case against four, including executive engineer of Dhaka WASA Md Atikur Rahman, over the recent death of a person after falling into an open manhole in capital's Paltan area, reports BSS.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice Mohammad Ullah passed the order, asking officer in-charge of Paltan Police Station to comply with the order.
The court also asked Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner to take departmental actions against sub-inspector Muhibur Rahman Sujon and inspector Rafikul Islam of Paltan Police Station for incorporating wrong information into the general diary filed earlier in this regard.
The court passed the order as managing director of Dhaka Water Supply & Sewerage Authority (WASA) and chief executive officer of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) appeared before it and submitted their explanations over the matter. Accepting their explanations, the court exempted them from personal appearance on next hearing dates.
